When To Visit Morocco: Weather and the Best Months to Travel

Often before planning their trip, please often ask, “When is the best time of the year to visit Morocco?” It’s a great question! With different weather and temperatures at different times of the year, it’s important to take into consideration before planning your travel.

Morocco can be visited throughout the year but some months are better than others. In fact, certain time periods are more suited to certain activities and experiences. If you are looking for a sunny vacation that includes fun activities like swimming or enjoying seaside resorts, then May through October is your best bet. However, if you want to experience Morocco's changing seasons and get out on horseback or trek through mountain ranges like Atlas Mountains , then consider visiting during March through April, or December through February.

What is the weather like?

Springtime (March-May) and fall (October-November) are ideal for exploring most cities Morocco. Temperatures are moderate throughout the day. There's plenty of sunshine to keep you energized for all your sightseeing adventures, but also enough shade from palm trees along beaches or restaurants along streets to keep cool during afternoons. Night temperatures tend to dip low enough for some exploring outside without getting too chilly!

Summer months of July and August are extremely hot in most of Morocco, so if you plan trekking to the Sahara Desert or to more southern regions, it's best to avoid these months. Coastal areas are best during summer since they're much cooler than inland regions which can get extremely hot during this time. If you choose to visit Morocco in winter months between December-February it will be colder than other seasons, but still quite pleasant compared with other countries' winter months (such as France).

When to visit Marrakech

Marrakech is within the Atlas Mountains, so you can expect to have a few days that are quite cool. We recommend spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) for the best time to visit Marrakech. The temperatures are generally mild to warm during Spring, but this is also the time when there’s more rain in Morocco. If you prefer dry weather, then winter (December – February) would be ideal! Just keep in mind that it will get cold at night!

Casablanca is divided into two seasons: Relaxing and Raining. July through August is the relaxing season. The weather remains clear and warm, allowing the introduction of outdoor activities, like sunbathing on the beach, or cruising the coast on a speedboat. Temperatures rarely dip below 65 F (18 C) or reach above 85 degrees (31 C), making it an ideal time to visit Casablanca. You can even relax in a hammock but be sure to bring an extra sweater since it gets a bit chilly at night. The rainy season lasts from October through December and can be harsh.
